Morrak's Influence

Conflict in Nophra revolves around Morrak and her reign. Life in areas affected by her can be significantly impacted.

Sashai

Morrak’s Palace is located here, and it’s the center of her influence. On the outside it seems to be a paradise, but life here can be difficult and many are oppressed in some way or another.

Having an Exalted Focus is always risky business, but in Sashai it is exceptionally so. Morrak has ensured her guards are expertly trained in spotting them and bringing them to her. Since owning a focus is generally frowned upon, anyone will report them if they happen to come across them, even if they have nothing to do with the guard. Once the focus is confiscated and the user imprisoned, she uses them to arm her most loyal followers/guards. This is all done in secret, so the citizens are none the wiser and have assumed the focuses are being disposed of. There is a known black market for these in the city, and it is rumored she has direct lines to obtain them even outside of confiscating them.

Acknowledgement or symbolism of the demigods is strictly prohibited here, as she considers herself above them. Any mention of them is taken as an insult and offenders are severely punished. Additionally, it’s best to avoid extravagant shows of magic or power, as it attracts attention from her and that is never a good thing.

Joining Morrak’s ranks is generally considered a good thing to Crystali of the city, since she compensates very generously. Anyone who works for her is ensured a life of luxury for themselves and their family. Unbeknownst to most, leaving the guard for any reason results in dire consequences. This is not directly disclosed, and is used as a threat/leverage if someone were to try and desert.

Crystali of Dark or Light elements must steer completely clear of the city, since she will stop at nothing to take advantage of their rare powers.

Adamantine Bluffs

Morrak uses a lot of adamantine, a rare ore that can be found only in this region. Originally, she had a deal with the city since she was buying most of their ore, but over time she wound up usurping them. At face value, the city still appears to be independent but behind closed doors she’s the one pulling all the strings.

Ripgate/Atroa

None are really sure what’s going on in Atroa, aside from there being some sort of prison facility called Ripgate there. This island is completely under Morrak’s claim. It’s very difficult to get to and it’s well known that there’s not much there other than trouble, so not many details have ever been publicly disclosed.
